Tastylia Australia Who doesn’t like Cucumber, specially when it’s summer. So, here I am introducing you all to my tried and tested salad. Loved by elders and kids too , “Jeera Kheera Salad”

he he he … Yes! this is the name I have given to this sweet cucumber salad , it is an Indian origin so why not the name in Hindi 🙂

And for the calorie conscious people: 1 cup of sliced cucumber is a mere 16 calories. , The cucumber really is a dieter’s dream. Additionally, Cucumbers are an excellent source of Vit C & K, potassium , silica & it has been discovered they contain antioxidant & anti-inflammatory properties as well.
This is pretty perfect during these hot, summer months as it is extraordinarily easy to make & uses only a few ingredients.

The heat from the cumin seeds, is a perfect contrast to the cool, clean taste of the cucumbers along with those sweet & salty flavors cucumbers love. The health benefits of cumin include its ability to aid in digestion, improve immunity, respiratory disorders, asthma, bronchitis, anemia, skin disorders and so on. With my crappy lungs I need to include them more of them in my food apparently.
It is best to combine the cucumbers & the cooled dressing together right before serving as the sliced cucumber can lose some liquid as it sits, diluting the delicious dressing. In the recipe I refer to slicing – the thicker the slices, because as thinner the slices the more liquid they’ll lose. And Work your magic on Jeera Kheera Salad…
